As pride month comes to an end this June, team VIVA! celebrates with colour, to represent the importance of celebrating diversity in the workplace.

This week marks the 50th anniversary in commemoration to the Stonewall Riots that happened in 1969, that would change the course of gay rights around the world.

What is the definition of pride and why is it celebrated?

Pride: “It is a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, or the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated.”

For many years, the LGBTQI+ community experienced the inability to feel pride or be publicly proud of who they were. And whilst progress has been made, discrimination is still a problem, especially in the workplace. So, at VIVA! we take pride in celebrating everyone as equal, because we believe that strength lies in our differences.
