Mini Documentary – Lucy Morgan, Respiratory Physician & Lung Foundation Australia National Council member discusses the rise of a “fit & fabulous” Aussies in their mid-60s who are failing to protect against pneumococcal infection – May 13, 2016
Watch this mini documentary featuring respiratory physician & Lung Foundation Australia National Council member, A/Prof Lucy Morgan, discussing pneumococcal pneumonia & the importance of protecting against this often fatal lung infection.
A/Prof Morgan reflects on the rise of a generation of healthy, fit & fabulous Australians in their mid-60s who love to travel & to care for their grandchildren. They take good care of themselves, & are dedicated to “adding years to life”, by exercising & eating well, but don’t realise that developing pneumococcal pneumonia could change all of that.
She says the stark reality is, all adults aged 65+ are at increased risk of contracting pneumococcal pneumonia due to their age alone, & pneumococcal vaccination can “add life to years.”
