International Food Revolution Day

He is funny, he is British and he is a wiz in the kitchen! You guessed it, it’s Jamie Oliver.

Today is Food Revolution Day, the culmination of Jamie Oliver’s campaign to educate people on good food choices and fresh produce. This year the event is taking place across 72 nations, from Australia to America and India to Brazil.

As obesity is becoming a slow and steady killer, Jamie Oliver’s frustrations have led to this global day of action.

Talking to Matt Preston from the Daily Telegraph, Jamie Oliver said: “In Australia, obesity-related deaths now outstrip smoking-related deaths and 68 per cent of people in hospital are there because of a diet-related disease. If we can educate ourselves to eat better as a society then we can help people to live 11 years longer.”[read the full story]

In support of the campaign, Team VIVA! is giving the office a complete clean food overhaul.

We pledge to have more al fresco than ‘al desko’ lunches and to prepare freshwork meals every day.
