Saturday March 8, 2025 marks International Women’s Day 2025 – a day in which we celebrate every woman worldwide who helps to shape & inspire lives.🌏🌟

 

In 1908, 15,000 women in New York protested for better pay, shorter hours, & voting rights. The following year, National Women’s Day was founded. By 1910, the day had become a global movement for suffrage.

 

The first International Women’s Day was staged in 1911, with more than a million attending rallies throughout Europe. It wasn’t until 1975 however, that the United Nations (UN) officially recognised March 8 as ‘International Women’s Day’.

 

From female leaders in business, to creators in science, art, & beyond, women have proven time and time again, that strength, resilience, & innovation have no boundaries.

 

Over the past 40 years, the International Women’s Development agency (IWDA) has encouraged women worldwide to reflect on the progress made to date & to recognise the work that lies ahead.

Founded almost 23 years ago by PR practitioner, Kirsten Bruce, her passion & leadership has not only served to shape our agency, but has further inspired countless women within the health communications, to follow their passions & make a meaningful impact in the sector.

 

 

This year’s official UN theme – “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment” – reminds us that true progress is not just about equality, but ensuring fair opportunities for all women, regardless of their background or circumstance.
